In the following cases images fall into public domain after 30 years from the date of publication or public presentation (Article 16):
• Photographic or cinematographic works.
• In cases where the work belongs to a legal personality or rights are transferred to a legal personality.

The media description page should identify which reason applies.
  • Birth of a Nation Image - This image is in the public domain in the United States. In most cases, this means that it was first published prior to January 1, 1923 (see the template documentation for more cases). Other jurisdictions may have other rules, and this image might not be in the public domain outside the United States.
  • Elizabeth Taylor - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof trailer. This work is irrevocably in the public domain in the United States because it was first published in the United States without copyright notice prior to 1978.
